Why the name “Grawlix Consulting Solutions”?

Because workplace problems are messy.

A grawlix is a string of symbols, like @#!%, used to express frustration. The name fits those workplace moments when leaders ask, “Where do we begin?” Grawlix Consulting Solutions helps turn that frustration into a clear solution.

Experience built on the shop floor.

David L. Schultz, founder and Principal Human Resources Consultant, has worked in HR since 2006. He began his career in production, quality assurance, and supervision, giving him firsthand knowledge of the people and pressures behind operational decisions.

His experience spans food processing, produce operations, controlled-environment agriculture, distribution, and gray and ductile iron foundries. He has built HR functions, supported rapid growth, and partnered with leaders to stabilize staffing and strengthen accountability.

David's work includes a turnaround assignment in an operation with more than 700 employees and enterprise workforce-development initiatives affecting 4,000+ employees. He connects structured training, skills-based pay, leadership coaching, employee relations, and workforce data to daily operations.

Through Grawlix Consulting Solutions, David brings that experience to small and mid-sized businesses. An engagement can focus on one role, one workforce issue, or a broader HR need. Scope and implementation support are matched to the organization, with systems leaders can explain and teams can sustain.

Training and job proficiency

A repeatable way to teach the work.

In enterprise workforce-development work, David applied Training Within Industry (TWI) Job Instruction to help employees learn targeted roles through a consistent process. The approach connects preparation, demonstration, supported practice, and verification of proficiency.

Reported results in the targeted roles included an 87% reduction in time to proficiency and a 66% reduction in accidents following implementation.

Skills and pay progression

Connect employee growth to a clear pay structure.

While building HR in a growing operation, David developed skills-based pay and secured a $600,000 annualized wage restructuring investment to support the program and employee progression.

The investment funded changes to wages and progression. This experience connects workforce development with the financial decisions required to implement and sustain a pay program.
